Une septième espèce appartenant au sous-groupe Drosophila melanogaster Meigen: Drosophila orena spec. nov. du Cameroun. (Diptera: Drosophilidae).

Abstract

The description of Drosophila orena spec. nov. adds a 7th species to the melanogaster sub-group. Four of these species have been described since 1971. This discovery confirms the hypothesis of an African origin of D. melanogaster. It is interesting to note that, during its evolution, the melanogaster sub-group was able to produce both ubiquitous, cosmopolitan, colonizing species and specialized ones with a narrow ecological niche.
