Abstract

The model combination Acyrthosiphon pisum on Vicia faba is presented which was used for laboratory testing of xenobiotics. In a comparison of mouth parts and feeding habits, anatomy of the degestive tract and food physiology with other species of aphids the common features are emphasized and the possible generalization of the results is discussed. Outdoor development and breeding under laboratory conditions are described, especially embryogenesis and larval development.
