About the year 1900 C. F. Lange was the most important entomofaunist for the Erzgebirge. He studied the Coleoptera, Diptera, Heteroptera (incl. Cicadina) and Hymenoptera. His collection, well preserved for the greater part, has now been made accessible. Including the collection Mink, Krefeld, it amounts to almost 17.000 species. Twenty species of Ichneumonidae described by Lange were revised, and lectotypes were established. Owing to Lange's numerous exchanges (e. g. with Alfken, Brauns, Konow, Schirmer, Strobl) the collection contrains other historically valuable material.
