Die Familien der Diptera Schizophora und ihre phylogenetischen Verwandtschaftsbeziehungen.

Abstract

The author reviews the families of Diptera Schizophora, especially those of the so called Acalyptratae, and discusses the question whether and for which reasons they may be considered as monophyletic groups in the sense of phylogenetic systematics. Some of the families are combined to family groups (superfamilies) which also may be considered as monophyletic groups. The evolutionary trends of the various morphological characters of these families and family groups are discussed with the purpose to elucidate their value for determining the monophyly of the various taxa.
