Abstract

1. This monographical revision deals with the Central-, Western- and Northern-European species of the genus Trioxys Haliday 1833 (Hymenoptera: Braconidae, Aphidiinae). - 2. The identification of the various species is based upon morphological characters especially upon the venation of the wings, the shape of the petiole, and the form and detailed structure of the external genitalia of females. - 3. The following species Trioxys falcatus n. sp., rietscheli n. sp. and urticae n. sp. are described as new. - 4. The species Trioxys n. sp., aff. heraclei(Haliday 1833) is described according to the rules of the nomenclatura aperta. - 5. A neotypus is defined for the two species Trioxys cirsii (Curtis 1831) [= Trioxys aceris (Haliday 1833)] and Trioxys compressicornis Ruthe 1859 [= Trioxys testaceus Stelfox 1948]. - 6. Referring to morphological investigations of the female genitalia the 4 species Trioxys betulae Marshall 1891, Trioxys pallidus (Haliday 1833), Trioxys pulcher Gautier & Bonnamour 1924 and Trioxys utilis Muesebeck 1956 are considered as belonging to a group of species for which the oldest name "Trioxys pallidus (Haliday 1833)" is proposed. - 7. The name Trioxys chenopodii Foerster is a nomen nudum. - 8. The two species Trioxys letifer (Haliday 1833) and Trioxys ? dissolutus var. ß (Nees ab Esenbeck 1834) are stated to be species dubia.
